Solar & off-grid power
How solar really works, how to size a system honestly, and how to maintain batteries, charge controllers, and inverters without the marketing fog.
Education
Three decades of engineering is worth more when it’s shared. We run workshops, training, and consulting that hand your team real, usable skills — solar, IoT, electronics, CAD, fabrication, and the safety know-how that keeps a shop running. Practical, hands-on, and pitched to where your people actually are.
There’s a kind of knowledge that doesn’t come from a manual — the why behind the how, the judgment that turns a procedure into real capability. That’s the kind we like to teach. Not lecture-hall theory, but the working knowledge that lets your people make good calls when we’re not standing next to them.
We teach the way we work: hands on the gear, eyes on the result, plain language for complicated things. Whether you’ve got a crew that needs to maintain a new system, a business stepping into technology for the first time, or curious folks who just want to understand the tools shaping their world — we’ll meet you where you are.
What we teach
Sessions are tailored to your group, your gear, and your goals. Here’s the range.
How solar really works, how to size a system honestly, and how to maintain batteries, charge controllers, and inverters without the marketing fog.
LoRaWAN, Meshtastic, and sensors made understandable — how to deploy, monitor, and extend a network across real rural distance.
From reading a schematic to flashing firmware — practical electronics for people who’d rather fix it than replace it.
Fusion 360 from a standing start, plus 3D printing and the basics of CNC — design your own parts and actually make them.
Shop fundamentals: cutting, fitting, and welding done safely and well, with the judgment to know what “good enough” really means.
The training that keeps fingers attached and projects on schedule — safe practices around tools, power, and heavy equipment.
Who it’s for
Stepping into new technology, or need your team able to run and maintain a system we built? We’ll get them confident and capable.
Practical, no-nonsense training on the solar, monitoring, and equipment that’s becoming part of modern rural operations.
Hands-on workshops that spark real interest in engineering, making, and the trades — taught by people who do the work.
How we teach
We don’t do death-by-slideshow. A good session puts a tool in your hand early and builds the understanding around the doing. We bring the gear, set the pace to the room, and answer the “but what about…” questions that the textbooks skip.
Sessions run wherever it makes sense — at your place, on your equipment, or in our shop. Half a day or a multi-week program. One-time training or an ongoing relationship where we’re the team you call when something new comes up.
Tell us what they need to be able to do, and where they’re starting from. We’ll put together a session that gets them there.
